Mr. Mapes was the father of Mindi Mapes (Chad) and Donald Ray Mapes III; son of the late Irene Stoyka Mapes and Donald Ray Mapes, Sr.; brother of Shelly Gunning (Simon) and the late Billie Jean Mapes; grandfather of Ashton, Talon, Lealan, and Nevaeh; nephew of Aunt Helen Raphiel; and cousin of Natalie Raphiel.
Mr. Mapes enjoyed hunting deer. For many years he and his father owned and operated Don Mapes Wrecker Service. In lieu of flowers, please consider offering a donation in memory of Mr. Mapes to The St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am in the Chapel. Mr. Mapes will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
