Donald Arthur

Donald Taylor Arthur, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. He was a native of New Orleans and a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 51 years. Mr. Arthur was the husband of Evelyn Long Arthur, married for 57 years; father of Debbie Arthur Randall (wife of Keith) and the late Diane Arthur; son of the late John and Louise Arthur, Sr.; grandfather of Ryan K. Randall (husband of Catherine); and brother of the late John Arthur, Jr., Estelle A. Powell, and Betty A. Poirier.

Mr. Arthur was an active member and Church Elder at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Chalmette. He also sang in the choir. He was a retired mail carrier after 22 years of service with the United States Postal Service. Mr. Arthur had proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was the Director of Public Relations and a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center in Braithwaite prior to Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Arthur was a graduate of Nichols High School in New Orleans and attended LSU. He was also a Mason.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. Mr. Arthur will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
