Betty Ann Brink Chiri passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the age of 90. She was the beloved mother of Guy Signorino, Glenda Dickinson and the late Christopher Signorino. Daughter of the late Frederick Brink and Catherine Rapp Brink. Sister of the late Joan Ponzo and Deanna Billiot. Proud grandmother of Jennifer Signorino, Emily Ali, Rachel Montelaro, Benjamin Dickinson, Brook Doane Williams and Alex Dickinson. Great grandmother of Brett, Isabella, Joseph, John, Troy, Nicholas, Maddison, Mason, Lia and Lilith. She is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Born in New Orleans, LA, Betty was a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish before settling in Mandeville, LA. In her earlier years, Betty enjoyed a fulfilling career as a computer programmer and analyst for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A woman of deep faith, Betty served as a Eucharistic Minister and demonstrated her compassionate spirit by volunteering with hospice, offering comfort and care to others in their time of need.
Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures - dancing to live music, gardening, fishing, walking on the beach, and celebrating Mardi Gras. On pleasant days, she loved to visit the trailhead in Mandeville, spending time by the lakefront and listening to live music under the sky with her dear friend Thomas Anderson. She was also an active member of singles groups like Abundant Characters and bereavement groups such as Compassionate Friends.
Betty will always be remembered for her unwavering loyalty to her family, her caring and loving nature, her infectious laughter, and the joy she took in spoiling her grandchildren. A true example of what it means to care for others, Betty’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her kindness and devotion will never be forgotten.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, December 19th from 6:00PM – 8:00PM. A second visitation will take place at OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR CHURCH, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA on Friday, December 20th from 12:00PM – 1:00PM, followed by a Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00PM. Betty will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
