Alfred John Nunez Sr.

Alfred J. Nunez, Sr. passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019. He was 76 years old. Alfred was the devoted husband of the late Diane M. Nunez. Loving father of Gordon W. Nunez, Sr., the late Alfred J. Nunez, Jr., and the late Crystal Ann Nunez. Grandfather of Gordon W. "Bubba" Nunez, Jr., Nicolas M. Nunez, Jordon W. Nunez, Crystal L. Nunez McGraw, Tiffany Nunez Ball, and Bethany Diane Nunez. Great-grandfather of Joshua Pontecorvo, Jr., Jayden Pontecorvo, Brooklyn White, and Hope Boney. Brother of Allen Nunez, Evelyn Brooks, Ester Gonzales, Elsie Smith, the late Augie Nunez, and the late Tina Nunez. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Mae Nunez. Alfred also leaves behind many cousins, in-laws, other relatives, and dear friends.

Alfred was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and son. He was a man of few words but made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He will forever be remembered as a man of honor, and integrity, who spoke his mind, but never hesitated to help those in need. He truly had a heart of gold, and will always be missed by his family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at OUR LADY OF LOURDES CHURCH, in Violet, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held in Alfred's honor at 12:00 PM. At 2:00 PM, Alfred will be bestowed with Military Honors, at Jackson Barracks, 6400 St. Claude Avenue, in New Orleans.
