William Roy Simmons, 78 of Moundville, Al, passed away August 09,2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Frances Mary Jane Simmons; wife, Dorothy Simmons, six brothers, Slick Simmons, Troy Simmons, JW Simmons, RC Simmons, RV Simmons, and LC Simmons; one sister Mattie Bell Sewell. Roy is survived by his children, Michael Simmons (Tanya), and Carlton Simmons (Lesley St John); grandchildren, Justynn Simmons, Ryan Braddock, Chris Simmons(Kristal Nelson), Jessica Simmons, Ashleigh Kish(alen), Hunter Simmons, Shelby Simmons, Kasey Phillips (Austin), Tyler Simmons, Cianna and Isabella Banks; great grandchildren. Addisynn Simmons, Alexis Richeson, Ethan Maclwain; and his great great grandchildren, Anna Bayleigh Kish, Charli Rose Kish, Dawson, Jaime,and Emi Banks, Kade, Elleigh and Maddie Turner; as well as his special friend, Barbara Nell Averette.
Roy's guitar playing alone with the Simmons Family Gospel will be missed by all that know him.
A visitation for William will be held Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Rockco Funeral Home, 805 Birmingham, Centreville, Al 35042. Following the visitation will be a graveside at 12:00 PM at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery, Moundville, AL.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Simmons, Justynn Simmons , Hunter Simmons, Tyler Simmons, Austin Phillips, Toby Banks , Allan Kish , Ryan Braddock , Faye Manderson Cancer Center, Southern Care, New Beacon, Dr. Skelton, Julie Banks and Kristi Simmons.
