Rev. Paul G. Brown Sr. age 89, of West Blocton, AL. passed away peacefully at his home on June 14, 2024. He was born November 30, 1934 in Anniston, AL. to Clarence Thomas Brown and Sadie Bell (Johnson) Brown.
God called Paul to be a preacher, so after graduating from Oxford High School in Anniston, AL., he bought a small trailer and he and his young bride, Marie, headed to Central Wesleyan College in South Carolina. He worked nights to pay their tuition and support themselves. Marie received a 2-year degree and he finished and received his theological degree in 3 years, graduating on June 1, 1959. Paul began his first pastorate at Jasper Wesleyan Methodist Church in the fall of 1959. He went on to pastor churches in Montgomery, Brent, West Blocton, Waycross, Friendship, Duluth, GA., Columbus, GA (3 tims), Easley, SC., and maybe more. He also filled in for other churches when pastors needed him. Paul made an impact on so many lives throughout his ministry and people loved him dearly.
September 2, 1969 the Pell City Christian Day School opened its doors. Rev. Paul Brown became the first headmaster, and he also taught. After serving faithfully, he went on to teach in other Christian Schools. Throughout his ministry as a full-time pastor, he worked hard to provide for his family. He served as principal in the Russell Co. School system, drove a school bus, trained to be a barber, taught himself to make campers and build storage buildings. He even taught himself to drive an eighteen-wheeler in the field in front of his house and pulled mobile homes throughout Alabama and other states. He never did anything half-heartedly, he lived and served God with all his heart, and he loved his family so much. Rev. Paul Brown was a man of prayer and he loved to read his Bible, until his eyesight failed him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Thomas Brown, Sadie Bell Brown Williams, and Rev. Colis Williams; wife, Audrey Marie (Pressley) Brown; daughter, Audrey Marietta Brown; brothers, Clarence E. (Red) Brown, James Douglas Brown; sisters, Geraldine Reaves, Joyce Dyer, Marie Collier, and Sandra Green.
He is survived by his wife, Vonda (Hubbard) Brown of West Blocton, AL.; sons, Paul G. Brown Jr. (Christina) of Alabama, Kent Brown (Karen) of Hobe Sound, FL.; daughters, Sheila McCrady (David) of Hamilton, GA., Lisa Dinkel (Brian) of Hobe Sound, FL., Angie Snyder (Joe) of Palm City, FL., Alicia Vincent (Russ) of Fairbanks, AK.; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Honorary Pallbearers are ministers of the Southern Bible Methodist Connection of Churches, employees of Affinity Hospice of Birmingham, AL., with special thanks to ladies Mildred Tubbs, Brendalyn Askew, and Rolanda Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Marilyn Marchant Scholarship at Ada Chapel Bible Methodist Church, for young people training as missionaries, or Gideon Bibles International.
