Nancy Sue Averette Snipes, age 69 of Brent, AL, was born on February 4, 1952 to William Lawrence Averette and Julia Marie Kornegay Averette. Nancy graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and was an avid Bama fan.
She passed away on May 2, 2021, leaving behind her husband of 50 years, Edwin Snipes, her daughter, Julie McKinney (Jeff) of Centreville, AL, her son, Drew Snipes (Lydia) of Franklin, TN, and 4 grandchildren: Tyler McKinney, Anna Cate McKinney, Grady Snipes, and Charlotte Snipes. She also leaves behind her precious dogs, Chester and Kramer. She is preceded in death by her mommy and daddy and her Aunt Kittie Sue Kornegay. The many dogs she owned over the years, including the 2 most dear to her heart, Ruffle and Benji, surely surrounded her as she entered Heaven’s gates. Pallbearers are Tyler McKinney, Jeff McKinney, Steve Snipes, Brody Bircheat, Mike Bircheat, Dowell Phillips, and Joe Hollifield. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Hospice of West Alabama, Dr. John Meigs and her lifelong best friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 10AM - 11AM here at Rockco Funeral Home-Centreville. Funeral Service will begin at 11AM with Rev. Roasco Kornegay presiding. Burial will be held at Pineland Memorial Cemetery following the service.
