Cecilia was born March 26, 1942, to the late R.C. and Mary Ivy Cox. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Cecilia was a graduate of Bibb County High School and later attended college to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduating college, she pursued a career as a bookkeeper for 60 plus years before retirement.
She is survived by her children, Tammy (Bruce) Yeager and Tommy (Brandy) Cooksey; four grandchildren, Matthew Yeager, Kevin Yeager, John Cooksey, and Mary Cooksey; twelve great-grandchildren; and siblings, Henry (Barbara) Cox and Peggy (Reuben) Hubbard.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Cooksey; and grandchild, James Cooksey.
A visitation for Cecilia will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 133 Oakley Ave, Centreville, Alabama 35042 followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM. Her final resting place will be at Schultz Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Schultz Spring Rd, West Blocton, Alabama 35184.
Serving as pallbearers are Kevin Yeager, Matthew Yeager, John Cooksey, Justin George, Austin Cargile, and Dick Prentice.
