Lucas Allen McMillan passed away on June 27, 2024 in his hometown of Centreville, AL. Born to Dustin and Jill McMillan, July 20, 2009, at DCH in Tuscaloosa, AL, Lucas lived an abundant life. He was a compassionate, gentle and kind-hearted young man who accepted people as they are. Lucas had an infectious smile and laugh that would brighten any room.
Lucas attended Randolph Elementary, Centreville Middle School and was a rising freshmen set to attend Bibb County High School in the fall. He excelled in the classroom, loved learning and was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. Lucas recently joined the high school track team and was looking forward to summer workouts, practice and the upcoming track season.
From an early age, Lucas loved the outdoors and like most young boys was fascinated by critters - bugs, insects, lizards and frogs. He could often be found walking the creek by his house, enjoying the Cahaba River or just exploring his granddaddy’s woods. Older brother Ethan was a regular outdoor companion. Annual family beach trips included crab hunting, searching for sand dollars, riding the waves and entertaining baby cousin Kathryn.
At seven years old - Lucas accepted Christ and made that decision public with baptism. He enjoyed the fellowship and regularly attended Wednesday night praise services at One Church Bibb.
Family meant everything to Lucas, and he had a special bond with his parents, while being a faithful little brother supporting Ethan at all his sporting events. He loved visiting grandparents and extended family. He even recently made a trip with his grandfather to Cape Canaveral, Florida to watch a space rocket launch.
Lucas loved and was loved in return. His legacy will live on in the hearts of the family and friends who knew him. One of the things we will remember most about Lucas was his hugs – Lucas was not afraid to hug – he gave the best “squeeze hugs” ever. Hug your loved ones today. We will forever be grateful for all the joy Lucas brought to us in the fourteen years the Lord loaned him, and we can’t wait to see him again in Heaven.
Lucas is survived by his parents, Dustin and Jill McMillan, and an older brother, Ethan McMillan; maternal grandparents, Gerald and Sheila Allen; paternal grandparents, Danny and Denise McMillan; and great grandmother Billie Jean Shadwick. Also surviving him are aunts and uncles, Wes and Cae Allen, Jason and Kellie Hubbard, and Draper and Amber McMillan; cousins Davis and Dee Allen, McKinley and Kathryn Hubbard, Troy and Cooper McMillan and Shelby and Gunnar Hobson (children of Amber Hobson McMillan); and a host of great aunts and uncles, and an abundance of cousins.
Lucas’ life will be celebrated on Sunday, June 30 at 1:00 pm at Centreville Baptist Church, 74 Court Square East, Centreville, AL. Graveside services will follow in Pineland Memorial Park at 2:00 pm.
