Knot worked for Drummond Coal for 33 years, loved to hunt and fish in his free time, and loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, James "Bud" Kornegay and Flo Thompson; wife, Doris Kornegay; daughter, Debbie Kornegay.
He is survived by his son, Sammy Kornegay (Donna); 4 grandchildren, Leanna Stephens (Ryan), Alyssa Kornegay, Sam Kornegay (Marley), and Terilyn Kornegay; 2 great-grandchildren, Clara Stephens and Jack Kornegay.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 2pm at Pineland Cemetery with Ken Myers officiating.
Pallbearers are as follow; Sammy Kornegay, Sam Kornegay, Ryan Stephens, Jack Merkle, Aaron Hood, and Jeff McKinney.
Honorary pallbearers are Drummond Coal Miners of Brookwood Alabama.
