William F. Whalen, 75, passed away peacefully at home June 25, 2018. He was born in Pittsburgh, Calif., in 1943.
He is survived by his children, Patrick and Emily; siblings, Dennis and Marsha; ex-wife, Lis and their families.
Bill grew up in the Philippines, Shanghai, Hong Kong and stateside, his father was in shipping. Bill loved to read. He boxed, played baseball and rode motorcycles. He served briefly in the United States Army then pursued education, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics. He worked as a longshoreman, a manager at Tri-Valley Growers cannery in Modesto, and later as a builder. He loved creating, using tools and being of service. Bill lived out his later years in Mossyrock, Wash., taking on small work projects, caring for his friends, and loving his dog and cats. Bill was buried July 6, 2018, in Issaquah, Wash.
