Sheldon James Brown, age 38 of Renton, Washington, passed from this world on August 1st. He was born on a gusty winter’s day in Aberdeen, Washington on February 4th, 1984. Surrounded by the land covered in evergreen, the clouds hanging above in the heart of Grays Harbor county, Sheldon was destined to spend his life amongst the hills, the trees, the rivers and lakes that he would find himself in. He would often be found 4-wheeling with his friends in the back country, and dirtying his truck on the mountain roads in Baw Faw.
Born with an interest in learning how things work, and discovering new ways to create, Sheldon would be seen at an early age taking things apart and putting them back together again. He was a true tinkerer, and enjoyed the creative process, a process he would carry on and use in a career as a fabrication stud welder. In fact, he was so talented that his colleagues dubbed his area “Shell’s Fab Shop,” and placed a sign above his work station letting all know that he was the best of the best, and his place in this world is marked by his skills.
Sheldon used his skills to better the lives around him. While at Adna High School, he built a go-kart for his senior project and enjoyed experimenting on the machine with his friends and siblings. He would spend many an afternoon alone in the woods, with just his thoughts and his mountain bike, and breathe in the fresh air the Pacific Northwest is known for.
A straight-shooter, Sheldon was honest, kind, and would not hide what he was thinking. He would tell others how he felt, and would not sugar coat what he felt he should share. When you were with him, you’d know exactly what he was thinking, and you’d be better for it.
A man of creativity, variety and enjoying the discovery this world offers, Sheldon loved every type of music, from Kenny G (Sheldon was an excellent saxophone player in high school) all the way to the dark and aggressive sounds of the band Tool, proving his love for diversity and finding the spice in life. He taught himself guitar, and could be heard sitting alone with the tunes he loved, strumming and singing, with his eyes closed and his heart open. Sheldon loved gaming, especially virtual, and would lose himself in the world of books, with his imagination soaring to other lands.
Sheldon will be missed, and his friends and family will continue to hold him in their hearts, hearing his laughter, seeing his face, and loving the ways that he touched their lives.
