He was born October 8th, 1926 in Pe Ell WA, to Frank and Anna Novak.
As a young man, Bob worked in Seattle as a "soda jerk" and was a bell hop at the Edmond Meany Hotel. Bob also drove coal truck between Chehalis and Olympia.
At 16, Bob went to California to live with his brother Bill and work in the ship yards. At age 18, he was drafted into the Marines. Bob was proud to have been on the USS Missouri when the peace Treaty was signed. He worked for the St. Regis Paper Company and Champion International in the Morton-Mineral area for 39 years. He was partners with Richard Sokol and Jim Elston in SSC Construction until retirement. Bob enjoyed fishing in Alaska and Seiku, bowling with his buddies, and following his grandson's sports. During retirement, Bob enjoyed vegetable gardening, cutting firewood, and being with the family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna Novak, brother Bill Novak, and nephew Bill Novak.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years Ellen, daughters Virginia and Mike Herron, Cheri Novak, Suzie and Bob Ostrom, and Katie and Jeremy Toft. Grandchildren David, Jeremy, Hugh, Josh, Bradley, Summer, Dustin, Brian, Hunter and Conner. Great-grandchildren Ty, Chloe, Ashley, Karlee and Michael. Niece Michelle and Tom Cunningham, brother in law Joe and Patti Kroll, sister in law Dawn Kroll and many nieces and nephews. And his buddy Jake.
A viewing will be held July 6th 2010, from 9-10 am at Holy Disciples Catholic Church – 10425 187th St. E, Puyallup, WA. A mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 am. Burial will follow in PeEll WA, at 3:00 pm.
