Robert “Bob” Wright, 88, passed away on Aug. 9, 2015 at Clark’s Country Haven Adult Family Home in Winlock, WA. He was born on Apr. 4, 1927 in North Bend, OR to Samuel and Anna Wright. Bob graduated from Marshfield High School in North Bend in 1945. He was drafted into the U.S. Army after graduation and went to Japan with the occupation troops until he was discharged from the Army in Dec. 1946.
Bob returned to North Bend and married the love of his life, Alice “Pauline” Davidson on Dec. 27, 1947. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1951 as a business major. Their two daughters, Sandra and Deborah were born during his college years.
Bob and Pauline returned to Coos Bay after graduation to live until moving to Portland in 1958. Bob spent most of his career with the State of Oregon, working for SAFE Corporation and the Employment Division. He retired from the Employment Division in 1995.
Bob moved to Beaverton in 1960. Bob made the most crucial decision of his life by receiving Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1970. Bob was active in many areas of service at Village Baptist Church. He went on numerous short-term mission trips to countries such as Dominica, Mexico, India and Kazakhstan. Bob and Pauline enjoyed family, friends, and traveling during retirement.
Bob and Pauline moved to Lewis County, WA in June 2015 to reside in a care facility near their daughter, Sandra. Bob passed away soon afterwards as a result of Alzheimer’s disease. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; half-brothers, Fred and Clarence Unger; and half-sisters, Myrtle Simpkins and Rose Williams. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Pauline of Chehalis, WA; daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Pickens of Centralia, WA; daughter, Deborah Kisor of Sherwood; grandchildren, Greg, Jennifer, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Kali, Alexis and Danica.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Village Baptist Church, Beaverton. Memorial contributions may be made to the mission fund of Village Baptist Church. Bob will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date.
