Matthew was born April 29, 1975 in Centralia, Washington to Thomas and Candyce Potter. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1996 to 1998. He decided to put being a father of two sons first and left the service. Matthew worked different jobs from construction to trucking. In 2019 when his daughter was born, he became a stay at home father.
Matthew had a passion for many things but most important was his family. Although he was a complicated man, he instilled the importance of family to his children. Matthew loved to work hard and did his best to work harder than anyone around. He also loved to be a nerd, whether that was comic books or history, it didn’t matter. Matthew enjoyed reading anything and everything that came his way and discussing what he learned with all around him. He loved to hear other peoples’ thoughts on these subjects, even though he may not agree with them. These are not the memories of the man who he was when he passed away, but the memories of the best version of this man.
Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Candyce and his father, Thomas.
He is survived by his three children, Jarrod, Jacob and Juniper; brother, Luke; sister, Kacey; and several nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be held at the Doty-Dryad Cemetery, date and time will be announced. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
