I met Martin in 1975 as we studied radio broadcasting at Bates Vocational Tech in Tacoma.   We wound up becoming neighbors and good friends as we started our careers.  We spent hours listening to music together and turning on each other to new artists.  I moved to San Francisco in 1979 and for a number of years, Marty worked here as well.   I always admired his work ethic, professionalism, and love of his craft.  Marty was incredibly personable and a real team player.  I was thrilled when Martin and I reconnected after he moved back to Washington to help care for his mother.  I admired him immensely for his loyalty and dedication to his mom.  We spoke often about the challenges of caring for a parent and Marty was especially supportive to me after I lost my parents in 2013 and '14.  I will miss Marty and send my heart felt condolences to his family.
