John L. Starke, 78, was born to John and Thelma Starke on Nov. 15, 1933 in Tacoma, Wash. John graduated from Lincoln High School, Tacoma Wash., in 1952 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Washington and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Seattle University. John had many jobs including being a Vice President and Comptroller of Universal Service, Inc. What he loved the most was when he retired and became a full time farmer. He was a long standing member of Oakview Grange. He served in the United States Army.
He went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 25, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. John married Louise in 1978, in Seattle, Wash. She survives him at the family home. He is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Jim) Nett, Tacoma, many children, Sally Pesce, Centralia, Frances (Jesse) Gilbert, Tacoma, William (Kathy) Keilman, Puyallup, Gerald (Gwen) Keilman, Everett, Amy (Donn) Gallon, Centralia, James (Sarah) Keilman, Puyallup, grandchildren, Christina (Lakota) Hess, Pennsylvania, David (Tiffany) Pesce, Seattle, Patrick (Karen) Gilbert, Fircrest, Jesse (Holly) Gilbert, Fircrest, Jason (Tessa) Gilbert, Fircrest, PFC Tyler Keilman, USMC California, Jeremy (Tiffany) Keilman, Everett, Michelle (Jason) Shupe, North Carolina, Mary (Jason Lasiter) Keilman, Spokane, Betsy (David) Casteel, Spokane, Hilary Gallon, Tacoma, DJ Gallon, Tacoma, Benjamin Gallon, Centralia, Charlie Fister-Keilman, Puyallup, 14 great-grandchildren, and a nephew, three great nephews and a great niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece and two grandsons.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Assured Home Health and Hospice, Help at Home and Liberty Country Place for taking care of John during his last months.
A viewing will be held on May 3, 2012 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Sticklin Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, Centralia on May 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., graveside services to follow at Claquato Cemetery with a reception at the family home after.
