Jean Herrod, 91, went to be with her precious Lord Jesus Christ on Nov. 2, 2014 at Providence Centralia Hospital. Jean was born on Dec. 14, 1922 in Tacoma to Edward Stabbert and Leann Gertrude (Skersies) Stabbert.
She is survived by a brother, Ron in Lebanon, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean attended Tacoma schools graduating from Lincoln High School in 1940 and attended Multhomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon. She married Art Herrod March 31, 1946 while they were working in California. He worked in the oil fields and she worked as a waitress and secretary. They had no children, but raised Art's nephew, Ed Herrod during his youth years.
In 1960, they moved to Centralia when Art became a guard at Green Hill and Jean worked for the City of Centralia and later for Agnew Lumber Company and was in charge of payroll. Jean spent many weekends camping with Art, her cocker spaniels and often friends took their RV and joined them. But mainly, her life revolved around her church and using her talents there. She played the organ and sang solos and in ensembles at Mt. View Baptist Church for over 25 years.
Art died in 2001 and Jean moved to Cooks Hill Manor. She later moved to Liberty Country Place, where she has resided for the past seven years. The family would like to thank Liberty Country Place's loving and caring staff for the most excellent care. Many of the residents enjoyed listening to her sing the old hymns of the faith. Even in her 90s God was able to use her to witness for Him
A memorial service for Jean will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. View Baptist Church, 1201 Belmont Ave., Centralia. Rev. Bill Knepper and Rev. Bruce Stabbert will be officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.
