She was born to Sonny Redman and Bonnie Mascoe in Los Angeles, California, then raised and loved by F.A. and Katherine Murphy. Libby graduated High School in Paradise, California then attended College to receive a Nurse’s Assistant Certificate. She worked in a nursing home in Paradise, California and eventually moved up to Washington and was a stay-at-home mom. Libby met Thomas Angell and they married January 2, 1993. After moving to Chehalis, Washington, Libby worked in a business office for Ontos, Inc. as well as taught Preschool at Peace Lutheran Church, which she was a member of. While teaching, Libby became loved and known throughout the community as “Ms. Libby."
During her teaching career, Libby furthered her education by attending Centralia College where she earned a degree for Early Childhood Education. She was an avid crafter, talented baker, had a love for animals, and always shared a smile for those she met. Libby was immensely proud of her family; always eager to tell others of her children’s accolades and accomplishments. Libby treasured being a grandma and wore the title “Grammy” beautifully. She loved her grandkids with a passion and spent most of her free time visiting and doting on them.
Libby leaves behind beautiful memories for those who knew and loved her. Libby is survived by her husband, Thomas Angell; her children, Nicholas Filer, Timothy Angell, Mathew Filer, Andrew Angell, Megan Larsen and Elizabeth “Missy” Angell; her siblings Ron Murphy, Berta Wright, Karen Lewallen, and Rick Redman; 10 grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Peace Lutheran Church, 2017 Bishop Rd, in Chehalis, Washington, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Kitty Kat Haven, a charity which was dear to Libby, or a charity of your choosing.
