

Suzie grew up in Minot with her parents and two sisters, Betty and Priscilla (Pat). On Aug. 6, 1946, she married Robert Pickus in Breckenridge, Minn. They settled in Boistfort, Wash. in 1947 where they made their home and raised Steve, Susan and Tim.
Suzie was an active member in the Boistfort community where she made lifelong friends. Her life was defined by her service to others. She taught Sunday school and led the Sunbeam choir at the Boistfort Community Church for many years and was a devoted member of the church since 1947. She was very well known for her delicious homemade bread and cinnamon rolls, which she provided for the Lions Club and other community dinners for many years. Suzie was a volunteer with local blood drives and was a lifelong Baw Faw Grange member. Her greatest joy in life was her family and she treasured every moment with them. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, music and making her home a welcome place to all who visited.
Suzie leaves behind her sister, Pat (Cate) Calkins; her loving children, Susan and Darrell Gutsche, Pe Ell, Tim and Cathy Pickus, Centralia, Steve Pickus, Nederland, Colo. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, Brenda and Eric Smith and their children, Bodey and Garren; Wanda and Isaac Garza and their children, Gatlyn, Gracey and Faith; Jake and Brenda Pickus and their children, Melanie, Joelle, Amelia and Evan, Megan Pickus, Stephanie Russell and her children, Dillon and Cameron, Brian Pickus, Ben Pickus and Joey Pickus. She is also survived by a niece and four nephews.
Suzie’s family would like to thank the staff at Logan Street Manor with a very special thank you to Gabby and Melissa who gave love and showed great care and kindness to Suzie.
A memorial service for Suzie will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Sticklin Funeral Chapel, 1437 S. Gold Street, Centralia with Minister Chuck Christin officiating.
