On March 11, 2024, the world lost a remarkable soul, David Bruce Young, affectionately known as Dave by his loved ones. His final moments were spent at Swedish Health Services, surrounded by his wife Sandi, daughter Kayli, and extended family members. Dave's journey through life was one of profound kindness, generosity, and a vibrant spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew him.
He was born August 17, 1960 in Niagara Falls, New York, to Vernon and Francis Young. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to California before finally settling in Centralia, Washington. This place would become the backdrop of Dave's childhood, adolescence, and eventually settling down.
A proud graduate of Centralia High School in 1978, he started his career at Glen River. He truly found his calling when he launched his own general construction business, DB&R Inc.
In 1983 he married Sandi Boyd, and together they embarked on a journey of companionship, love, and mutual respect. Their family became complete with the adoption of their daughter Kayli in 1995, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with joy and unconditional love.
An avid lover of movies, Dave found solace and relaxation in their simple pleasures of life. His lake house was his haven, a place where he could unwind, go boating, or spend quality time with his beloved dogs. For Dave, happiness was found in the laughter of his family, the tranquility of nature, and the companionship of his pets.
Dave was known for his genuine, kind, and giving nature. His youthful spirit and zest for life were contagious, making every moment spent with him a cherished memory. He leaves behind a legacy of love, including his wife Sandi Young, his daughter Kayli Young, his brothers Jeff (Cindy) and Steven; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held at 1:00 pm on April 13, 2024 at Jester Auto Museum & Event Center in Chehalis, Washington. This gathering will be a testament to the impact Dave had on the lives of many, inviting all who knew him to share stories and reminisce about the joy he brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Tylie Tobin. Donations can be made at Umpqua Bank under the name "Tylie Tobin." This cause held a special place in Dave's heart.
