Bettylou Vollendroff joined God, loved ones and numerous former pets in heaven on February 26, 2024, at the age of 83. She passed away peacefully in Centralia, WA surrounded by family. She was born in Broderick CA on May 28, 1940
Bettylou is survived by her husband Brant, her cat Emma and her children, Rose, Midge, Tina, Vicke, Jim, Andy and David and their spouses, grandchildren, and everyone’s pets. She was the baby of the family having several siblings and is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She raised her children in Madera, CA, lived in Aberdeen, WA, and moved to Redding CA where her professional career took place. She and Brant retired to Centralia, WA in 2015.
Getting married at a young age, Bettylou did not get her education until after her kids were raised. She started with a GED, got her AA, then BA, and finally a Masters in Social Work. She held many jobs throughout her life, but it was the ones she held late in life that most describe who she was as a person. She worked as a Social Worker for the NorthStar Foster Family Agency, Mercy Medical Center, and Shasta Regional Medical Center. She loved working with youth in the foster care system, women, and the geriatric population. She was so good at it too.
Along the way she obtained the credentials to preform wedding’s and presided over the ceremonies of numerous family and friends over the years.
She was very social and had always had a close circle of dear friends wherever she landed. As such she opened her heart and door to many over the years and touched the lives of numerous people. She was an avid reader, prolific gardener and lifelong pet lover. She was especially fond of the Chinese Crested breed. She considered her children her greatest accomplishment.
At her wishes she will be cremated. A celebration of life event will be planned for later this year.
