Alden J. (AJ) Holborn passed away on October 11, 2022 after a short stay at St. Peter’s hospital from cardiac arrest. He is survived by his wife, Brooks, of 52 years of marriage, his daughter Charity, son-in-law Michael, as well as his grandchildren Isabella and Anthony.
AJ was born in Annapolis, MD but grew up in Southern California. He excelled at high school sports and was on the farm team for USC football at Cerritos College. He subsequently joined the Army and retired a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years. He was a highly decorated Vietnam war hero. He was awarded two Silver Stars, the Bronze Star with V Device and two oakleaf clusters, the Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters as well as other awards.
During his time in the Army, he obtained his Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, his Master of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Florida Institute of Technology. In addition, he earned his Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College. Upon retirement from the Army in Alaska, he worked in the financial services industry.
While in Alaska, AJ was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a guide for big game for friends and relatives in western Alaska. He was also part owner of Fishhawk Charters on the Kenai River in Alaska as a fishing guide for king salmon.
In addition, he participated in Field Trials and training his Labrador Retrievers throughout the Pacific Northwest for 25 years.
AJ will be interred in the Vietnam Veterans Wall in Arlington National Cemetery.
