Robert K Burns

Robert Keith Burns, born on March 31, 1938, in Mount Vernon, Texas, to Valton and Vera Sue Orren Burns, passed away on May 14, 2024, at the age of 86. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Robert graduated from Mississippi State University and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a surveyor before retiring. He had a passion for collecting antiques, storytelling, playing poker, and savoring good whiskey.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Martha Burns; his second wife, Stacey Basham; his son, Ira Lee Burns; his sisters, Patricia Burns and Sue Janell Wright; and his brother, Walter Allen Burns.

He is survived by his daughters, Susan Barlow, Virginia Bracato, Deborah Bogan, Patricia Burns, Laura Durst, Sandra Burns, and Melissa Cillo; his sons, John Burns, Robert Burns, William Burns, Charles Burns, Victor Burns, Michael Basham, and Daniel Basham; and his brothers, Duane Burns, Steve Burns, and Orren Burns. He is also survived by his daughters-in-law, Sarah Basham, Jordan Basham, Annette Burns, Ella Burns, Heather Burns, and Kaitlin Burns; and brothers-in-law, Robert Durst and John Cillo. Robert was the grandfather of 32 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Robert will be held at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home (409 Kaufman St, Mt. Vernon, TX) on June 22nd at 11am. Special thanks to the family at Sunrise Nursing Home of Baton Rouge for their care and support over the past six months.
