Robert James (Bobby) Browning was born on February 7, 1942 and passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Central. He was a member of Electricians' Local 995, a retired field man for the East Baton Rouge Parish Assessor's office, and a life-long cattleman. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon Watts Browning, son John Marc (Bettye Ann) and daughter Laura Lyn Browning Gerald (Eddie); four grandsons: Hunter Gerald, Robert Browning (Alyssa), Tim Browning (Stephen), and Blake Gerald (Karlyn). Four great-grandchildren, Cashe and Maddix Browning, and Lauren and Briar Gerald. He is survived by three sisters: Meryl Alexander, Aline Browning, and Lois Mason, and two special sisters-in-law, Cindy Watts Richard and Barbara Watts Stockwell. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents William H. and Cibell Cook Browning, five brothers Vernon, Edward, Charles, Roger, and Derry, three sisters Joyce Baker, Mildred Rushing, and Dorothy Fauntleroy. Bobby grew up in a home where he was one of twelve children and neighbors to the Sidney Browning and Julius Browning families. He grew up surrounded by six sisters, five brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, and more love than you can imagine. Family was everything to him. Bobby was kind, soft-spoken, and generous. He believed that a man's word was his bond and that a person never did anything to damage his reputation. Nothing gave him more pleasure than riding his Kubota tractor with his dog Mae, looking over his herd of cattle at his farm in Liberty, Mississippi, or spending time with his family. If Bobby was your friend, you had a friend for life. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at Blackwater United Methodist Church in Central, Louisiana from 9:00-11:00 with service at 11:00.
