Lawana Lachney

Mrs. Lawana Tarver Lachney passed away peacefully at her home on November 11, 2022, at the age of 68. Mrs. Lachney was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was lived as Christ like as they come with a warm heart of gold that flowed unlimited love that could only come from Jesus, Himself. She loved unconditionally and was loved by anyone and everyone she met. Her heart and the door to her home was always open and inviting. Always expect a hot meal regardless the time of day, hungry or not, if you drop in for a visit. In the fashion of true southern hospitality, no one would leave hungry or without a kind spiritual word. She devoted many years to the LSU College of Education preparing the next generation of educators. She touched thousands of students on their journey yet still had a special way of making each one a part of her ever-growing family. She held an extra special place in her heart for her husband, two children and granddaughter. A blessing and experience no words can describe. Nothing gave her more joy than her time with each of them. Her love for her family and faith shone brightly in every way and in all aspects of her life. A true angel on earth with compared beauty both internally and externally. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Cullen Lachney; son, Kamron Lachney; daughter, Dr. Jo’El Cheri’ Lachney; granddaughter, Addisyn Lachney; father, Robert Tarver and brothers Bobby Tarver, Lonnie Tarver and Donavon Tarver. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Zumo Tarver and mother-in-law, Rose “Mamie” Childress. Visitation will be held at Central Funeral Home on Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the funeral home from 9:00 am until the start of funeral services at 10:00 am. Mrs. Lachney’s brothers, Jody Juneau, Roy May, Hanson Hinton, JC Ducey, Chris Tassin and Mike Dupuis will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Central Funeral Home oversees arrangements.
