Aiden Stuart Hurd, age 9, of Central, Louisiana went to sleep, was wrapped in a hug, and then woke up in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 28, 2022. Aiden was born February 4, 2013 in Springfield, MO.
He is survived by his parents, Stuart and Jayme Hurd; grandparents, Mike and Mary Hurd, Jay and Rubye Devall; aunts, Jennifer Rathcke (Erik), Jessica Hayman (Nathan), Grace Drury (Caleb), Hope Hurd, Kathryn Hurd, Elizabeth Hurd; cousins, Morgan and Dylan Rathcke, Mikelle LeRay (Clint), Kaleigh and Brooklyn Hayman.
Aiden was a great adventurer. He was capable and skilled with a big imagination. He wanted to explore and do all the things. At the age of just 9.5, he lived a full life, experiencing things that many of us can never say we've done or will do. He has lived in 6 different states, visited over 17 states, been to 3 countries, made friends in 3 different languages, swam in 2 different oceans and 3 different seas, seen things less than 1% of the population has seen due to the military lifestyle and access to cool stuff, eaten foods of all ethnicities and types and styles, has had multiple animals including goats, hedgehogs, a giant hermit crab, rabbits, and all kinds of other animals, made friends and helped us start and run a small business off of his desire to run a lemonade stand, and was well-loved by any and every community he was involved with. His favorite color was Minecraft green. His favorite food was sushi at Central Buffet, where he HEAPS his plate and eats every roll. His motto was "you pay a little, and you get a lot of sushi!" Definitely a buffet kid. Nothing could slow him down, except for us. No matter how much more fun he would have, he wanted to be with us. Sometimes he would beg us to come along and "defeat the dragon" and sometimes he would get in our face and make sure his presence was known and that he loved us. He couldn't be everywhere at once, but he chose to be as close to us as possible. He showed us how to not be afraid and how to love fiercely. He never met a stranger, always ready to give his friendship whole-heartedly. To give up all the better things just to be near those he loved the most. His assurance in the Lord Jesus Christ has been a comfort to his family and friends that he is happily settled in heaven, and he is probably building a Minecraft mansion for his loved ones, with God's help, in preparation of our arrival. On his last day, we spent the morning playing video games together, and his last words for us were, "I'm done, you keep playing." And isn't that just how life is for a 9-year-old. Just a game. I can't wait to put the game aside and be in Heaven with my boy again.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Central Funeral Home from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Zoar Baptist Church from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM.
