William G. McNaughton, age 68, of Centereach, New York passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. Bill was born in Queens, New York. Bill always referred to himself as an "ordinary guy," but to the many that knew him, he was a man of honor and dignity. Whether he knew you for decades or just a short time, he would move mountains to help someone, no matter what it took. Genuine and humble, he never took credit for anything. Proud United States Army veteran and retired K-9 unit police officer with the New York City Police Department. After retirement, Bill continued his service with the grounds crew at Calverton National Cemetery. When he did take time for himself, his main passion was cars. He loved going to car shows and races and working on his prized 1969 Chevy Chevelle. Other hobbies and interests included his koi pond, martial arts and samurai swords.
Loving husband of Michele. Devoted father of Ryan, the late James D. and the late Courtney Ann Comfort. Loving brother of James (Gayle), Edward, Eileen and Conrad. Adored uncle of Eddie, Jamie, Heather, Samantha, Peter, Kerri-ann, Janet, Danielle, Jessica, Kristen, Gary, the late Danielle, the late Jesse and the late Leanna. Dear brother-in-law of Jacqueline Lomovsky (late Dennis), Kim Marzo (Richie) and Kelly Beraud. Bill is predeceased by his parents; William and Evelyn and his In-laws; Jack and Janet Beraud.
A visitation for Bill will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 2326 Middle Country Rd, Centereach, New York 11720. Prayer service at 4:00 PM. Closing prayer on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM with the interment to follow at Calverton National Cemetery, 210 Princeton Blvd, Calverton, New York 11933.
Bill was the true definition of a hero that fought a long and valiant fight with no complaints. He always said, "If they didn't tell me I had cancer, I wouldn't know."
