John F. Daly, age 88, of Centereach, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Linda, and is survived by his loving children: John (Geri), Irene Hudson (Matt), Rich, and Thomas (Heather). John was a cherished grandfather to Matthew, Elizabeth, Ryan, Kyle, and Erin, and a proud great-grandfather to Julietta, Abbigail, and Oliver.
John's dedication to his community was evident through his long-time service as a youth sports coach with the Huntington Boys Club, where he was particularly known for his passion for lacrosse and football. He was a true mentor to many, shaping the lives of young athletes with his encouragement and leadership.
A proud member of the United States Navy, John served on the DD699 Waldon, and his service to his country remained a source of pride throughout his life. He was also fiercely proud of his Irish heritage, always finding ways to honor his roots.
John had many interests, and his enthusiasm for life was contagious. He was a devoted New York Jets fan, a lover of dancing, and an avid bowler. Known for his sense of humor and zest for life, John lived by two quotes that reflected his lively spirit: "If you can't be good, be bad" and "Coming in second place is like kissing your sister."
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, 2326 Middle Country Road, Centereach, NY 11720. A military honors ceremony and interment will take place on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, NY 11792.
