Wilbur S. Eldridge Jr., 78, of Old Saybrook, CT, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024, at Middlesex Hospital. Wilbur, fondly known as Will, was born to the late Althea and Wilbur Eldridge on July 31, 1945, in Henderson, Nevada. Will grew up in South Chatham, Massachusetts and graduated from Chatham High School. He proudly served our country in Vietnam as an Ensign in the United States Navy. After his military service, Will worked in the electrical field.
Will’s greatest source of pride was raising his sons with his wife, Sherry, and being a grandfather. He helped to coach his son’s soccer and Little League teams. Will also enjoyed working around his home and he loved watching the UCONN Women’s Basketball team and the Boston Red Sox.
Will is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sherry Eldridge; his two sons, Eric Eldridge and his wife Holly of Ivoryton and Adam Eldridge and his partner Amy of Centerbrook. Will’s pride and joy was his grandson Ben as well as his bonus grandchildren Amber and Jake. He is also survived by his sister Patsy “Pat” Morse and her husband Tony of Harwich, Massachusetts, as well as a niece and a nephew.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2024 at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook from 1-2:30 P.M. with a Celebration of Life service at 2:30 P.M. Burial will be private at Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River with the rendering of military honors.
