Paul Jeffrey Forrest passed away at St. Raphael’s Hospital on June 25, 2024 at the age of 83. He was born in New York City to Cleo Florence Forrest and Melbourne A. Forrest. He grew up in Rockville Center and attended Oceanside schools. Paul is survived by his family including his brother, David V. Forrest, MD and his sister in-law Lynne. In 1990 Paul married Adrienne Stetson, Lynne’s sister, and together they raised their combined families including Michael Forrest from his first wife, Carla Wilkins, Meredith Elliott Rowley (Drew), Thomas Elliott and Bently Elliott from Adrienne’s first marriage to Ben Elliott. He took great delight in his seven grandchildren, James Rowley, Reagan Rowley, Eamon Rowley, Alden Elliott, Niall Elliott, Dashiell Elliott and Anna Corinna Perez Elliott, and in his nephew Dan Forrest (Amy) and niece Susannah Karajannis (Matthias) and in his great nieces and nephew, Cordelia Forrest, Thalia and Philip Karajannis
Paul attended Brown University using the Navy ROTC program. Upon graduation, he became an aviator with the 6th Fleet flying the Vought F-8 Crusader. After his tour in the Navy serving in various locations including the Mediterranean and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, he was reactivated in the reserves in Willow Grove, PA while pursuing his MBA at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
After he got his degree, his first job was with TWA which offered him the opportunity to fly around the world as a vacationer with stops in Africa, Israel, and Thailand. Later he went to work at Morgan Stanley and then became the CFO for Josephson International, Cap Gemini America and a partner and CFO for Heating Oil Partners in Connecticut.
When Paul retired, he and his family moved to Essex, Connecticut where they bought a home perfect for his dreams of owning a tractor and enough property to mow and plowing snow in the winter. He was a man who loved to tinker with motors and had an extensive workshop full of all the tools necessary to enjoy his hobby. Another dream realized was to purchase a boat he could motor up and down the Connecticut River as well as having occasional cruises. As members of the Essex Yacht Club, Paul served on the Regatta Committee where he used his beloved trawler “Fianna” as a committee boat for a number of races including ones for the Special Olympics which he particularly enjoyed. He also served on the board of the Old Saybrook Racquet Club where he and Adrienne enjoyed playing mixed doubles together. Another pleasure he had was listening to Adrienne practice and perform solo, two-piano and piano duet programs and attending Con Brio concerts, a choral group in which Adrienne sings. Paul and Adrienne enjoyed traveling especially to see their spread-out family from Washington State to Madrid, Spain and places in between.
Paul was a very patient, caring and kind soul who would immediately step up to help anyone. His time as a volunteer with HomeFront helping others who couldn’t afford making their homes safe environments brought him immense satisfaction.
He was a very special man.
