Laura Mangano Straub, 97, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home in Chester Connnecticut on February 24. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and married Frank Straub, the love of her life, in 1973. Laura and Frank settled in Chester, where together, they built their lifetime home. Laura and Frank enjoyed many happy years’ together living on the Connecticut River and traveling throughout the world. Laura served her community as Chester Town Treasurer. She was known for her generous hospitality, her joy of cooking, beautiful flower gardens, and her love for her family and friends. Her sharp wit and good humor was enjoyed by all. Laura is survived by her sister in law, Dale Mangano, her many nieces and nephews, their extended families and very dear friends Joan Bidwell and James Zanardi. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Middlesex Hospital Hospice Care, as well as Companions and Homemakers, with a very special thank you to Karen Castelli for her devotion and support. Laura will be dearly missed by all that loved her. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to consider a donation to Middlesex Health Hospice Program.
