Cindy Rischall, 70, of Essex (formerly of Rocky Hill) passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Monday, May 1, 2023. Cindy was born in Meriden on March 31, 1953 and was the daughter of Edward and Jean (Silverman) Koster. Cindy worked for 30 years in Bloomfield and Rocky Hill Public Schools as a speech and language pathologist. She passionately worked with her students and enjoyed seeing the progress they made. Cindy will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Phil Rischall, son, Jeremy (Daisy) Rischall of Dedham, MA, daughter, Melissa (Joshua) Rubock of Sharon, MA, brother-in-law Morris Rischall of Middletown, CT, and goldendoodle, Ori. Cindy loved to travel and her favorite place was Grand Cayman, which was like a second home to her. She enjoyed summers at Old Colony Beach in Old Lyme, which was a significant part of her life since childhood. She loved to cook and bake, and one of her greatest pleasures was to share her challah bread with family and friends. Cindy also enjoyed singing as part of the synagogue choir.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 4 at 1 p.m. at Congregation Beth Shalom Rodfe Zedek (CBSRZ), 55 E Kings Hwy, Chester. For a Zoom option, call CBSRZ 860-526-8920. Burial will immediately follow at Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River. Shiva will follow the burial at CBSRZ, service at 7:00pm.
