In 1954, Albie graduated from The Peddie School and went on to study political science at Princeton University. After graduating in 1959 from Princeton he became a law student at the University of Virginia. Following his time in the Army, Albie served as General Counsel at The Grand Union Company and practiced law at New York Life and Chubb Insurance Company.
Albie married his first wife, Lynn Hamilton in 1960 and had 3 wonderful children. He was a devoted little league and Pop Warner football coach for his son’s teams. In 1992, Albie married his current wife, Charlotte Meyer, and was delighted to be a step father to two more children.
An avid Jets fan, Albie also enjoyed playing golf, gardening and birdwatching. He had a tremendous love for his family which included the many dogs he adopted throughout his life. Albie was always the funniest man in any room and left a presence that will be sorely missed every day.
Albie is survived by his wife, Charlotte Meyer, and children, Albert Meyer III, James Meyer, Suzanne McKinney, Constance Hotz, and Camilla Richetelli, as well as his 11 grandchildren. His life‘s philosophy can be summed up in his parting words, “Laughter is the fun of life, who wants to be sad all the time? “ In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Connecticut Humane Society at www.cthumane.org.
