William Gene DeWees, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 21, 2024, in Littleton, Colorado, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on September 5, 1937, in Rawlins, Wyoming, Bill moved to Denver with his parents when he was just a few months old, where he would live for his entire life.
After graduating from North High School, Bill proudly served his country by joining the Army. Following his military service, Bill met the love of his life, Monika. The two married on December 17, 1965, and built a beautiful life together, raising three daughters: Ingrid, Renate, and Kristina. Bill was a devoted father who attended every choir concert, musical, and play his daughters performed in, cheering them on with pride and love.
Bill was known for his infectious sense of humor and his love of laughter. Often the life of the party, he delighted in playing practical jokes and spreading joy wherever he went. His quick wit, playful spirit, and hearty laughter made every gathering brighter, and his love for making others smile was one of his most endearing qualities.
He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and loved to travel, especially cruising to new destinations. He enjoyed dancing and always found joy in the company of friends and family. One of his proudest personal accomplishments was earning his college degree, a testament to his dedication and perseverance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Esther, his sister Charlene, and his brother-in-law Ed. He is survived by his wife of 58 1/2 years, Monika, loving daughters Ingrid, Renate, and Kristina; his cherished grandchildren Lynae, Kimberley, Adam, Rebecca, Emily, and Nicholas; and his precious great-granddaughter, Lucia.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Abode Hospice and Highline Place for their exceptional care of Bill during the last year of his life. Their kindness and support meant the world to him and his family.
Bill’s legacy of love, laughter, and a heart full of joy will be forever remembered and cherished by those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, especially the warmth of his smile and the sound of his laughter that brightened the lives of everyone around him.
