Wayne Evert Monson, 78, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021. Wayne was born in Boulder, Colorado, but his family moved to Englewood, Colorado, where he attended school and graduated from Englewood High School. He attended Colorado University, Boulder and graduated from Colorado State University, Fort Collins with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Wayne held several positions throughout his career focusing on city planning, community development, and land management. He had his own consulting firm for a number of years, eventually settling into managing special districts. His passion was being part of the Special Districts Association, where he held board positions including president. He was persistent about work and didn’t fully retire until recently.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margo. Wayne will be remembered as a loving brother, husband, father, and grandpa. Dogs were always a member of the family as well. He was active in his church at Holy Trinity Lutheran, where he faithfully served different positions from ushering, committees, and board president.
Wayne enjoyed many activities including camping, fishing, woodworking, being a handyman around the house and always wanted to find a way to fix and reuse, rather than discarding. He was a great mentor to kids and enjoyed sharing his knowledge. While not a chef, he was a great cook and loved teamwork in the kitchen. Many hands in the kitchen were certainly encouraged.
A small family memorial was held, with planning for a future celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Diabetes Association or to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Littleton, Colorado are encouraged.
