attended Landon Preparatory and graduated from University of Denver with a degree in Math.
Most of his years were spent in the software industry, networking company systems. From there
he ventured into sales. Everything from vehicles, insurance, warranties and mortuary sales.
After moving to Central City, he would best be remembered as the undertaker for the Central
City Wild Bunch, telling the history of this historic mining town. He also loved portraying
historic characters and pioneers in the Gilpin County Cemetery Crawl. He is preceded in death
by his sister Kathryn Matthews Rhodes , father, Samuel Woods Matthews and mother, Kathryn
Pressly Matthews. And survived by his sister Mary Witherspoon Matthews of St Petersburg, FL,
David Pressly Matthews of Salt Lake City, UT, his , wife, Suzanne Matthews, of Central City,
CO, three step sons, Scott Carl Ramnitz of Aurora, Co, Timothy Robert Ramnitz of Washington,
DC, Michael Ernest Ramnitz of Denver, CO and three step grandchildren. A gathering will be
held at Dostal Alley, Main Street, Central City, Colorado December 2nd , 2022 at 2pm.
