A true Colorado native, Sean was born in Denver and lived his entire life in the Denver metro area. He attended Cherry Creek Schools, having graduated from Cherry Creek HS in 1991. He went on to work as an electrician, spending over 22 years at Kenney Electric and the last 6 years at Berg Electric as the Regional Vice President of the Rocky Mountain Region. Sean loved life and tried to experience all the world had to offer. He loved golfing, fishing, and boating and took his friends and family each year to Lake Powell where they lived on a houseboat, fished, and shared stories and many laughs each day. Having become empty nesters, Sean and his wife Helen recently discovered the joys of world traveling having taken trips to Alaska, Europe, and Ireland in just the last few years. The Ireland trip was in early June this year and was one of the most amazing trips of Sean’s life. Sean’s most precious joy was spending time with his family.
Sean’s easygoing nature and fun spirit made it very easy to get to know him and love him. When Sean shared a laugh with someone, it was a deep belly laugh that would make all of those around him smile with joy. When Sean told stories he would captivate an entire room with his reenactments and impersonations- including the ability to voice and impersonate almost every person he met. His laugh came easily and often, and it was contagious.
When you heard Sean say ‘Here’s the deal…’ you knew it was about to be followed with some sage advice- a phrase his boys heard often. He took enormous pride in his sons and their accomplishments and would often be heard telling family stories to his friends and colleagues.
Sean and his wife recently moved to The Pinery where he was a member and enjoyed spending his weekends playing tournaments and perfecting his golf game. He loved the courses and the abundance of wildlife all around his home which he lovingly called his ‘cabin’ or his ‘sanctuary’. Sean was looking forward to the time retirement would come and he could enjoy these amenities each day all day.
Sean is survived by his wife of 26 years, Helen McMahon, and his two sons Jacob (23) and Brendan McMahon (20). His father Robert McMahon, mother Patricia McMahon, sister Michelle McMahon, nieces Chelsey and Cameryn McMahon, Jordain Andrianakos (McMahon), nephew George Andrianakos and great nephew Dimitri, and great niece Olivia.
Sean embraced the Japanese saying ‘Ichigo- Ichie’ (一期一会)which describes the concept of treasuring the unrepeatable nature of a moment. Living life to its fullest, accepting each once-in-a-lifetime moment, and fully cherishing those moments.
Please join Sean’s family for a celebration of his life and share stories and memories with his loved ones. Let the healing begin.
