Roy Anthony Lyman was born in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 31, 1948 to parents Roy and Dolores (Nagel). He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as siblings Jeffrey and Peggy (Sele). Roy is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Diane, his daughter Rebecca, son Jake and his wife Sharleen. Roy is also survived by his granddaughter Katherine, Sister Diane Mildren (Lyman), and numerous nephews, nieces, and brother and sister-in-laws.
Roy was united in marriage to Diane Hauke on December 19, 1970 in Greenfield, Wisconsin. Diane and Roy went to the same high school and Diane realized how handsome he was; the two began dating shortly after, and the rest was history. The two had their first child, Jake, in 1974, and their second child Rebecca, in 1976. Roy worked for General Electric from 1970 until he retired at the age of 55 in 2003. During Roy’s retirement he worked as a security guard, refurbished homes, and even drove for Uber and delivered groceries during the Covid-19 pandemic, but never without his bright smile. A few of Roy’s special delights in life were to serve as Chairman of the Board at Waukesha Bible Church and to volunteer as a DJ and radio programmer on the Christian radio station, Life Message.
Roy loved his children and grandchildren to his fullest extent and relished every opportunity he was given to tell others about Jesus. Roy was always looking forward to exploring new places and had a contagious wonder for life and the many beauties life has to offer. As a natural extrovert, Roy enjoyed walking through his neighborhood, and was constantly making new friends who grew to love Roy and sincerely appreciated his exuberance for life.
Roy loved all children and children were drawn to him for his own child like wonder and fascinations. One of his last earthly experiences was a meaningful, yet simple one of playing with water balloons with his beloved granddaughter.
Roy is missed by his family more than words can come close to explaining. His kindness, gentleness, and the way he supported his family will never be forgotten.
