Ronald Eugene Spears

Ronald Eugene Spears passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition on Monday, March 31st, 2025. Ronnie was a most beloved husband and father. He resided in Colorado with his family, wife Christina and children Caroline and Michael, since 2007.

Ronnie worked as an environmental biologist in the oil and gas industry. He got his bachelors degree from La Grange College, and then finished his masters in Biology from Georgia Southern University. He had a true love of nature, with a special interest in bats and carnivorous plants.

He loved Pearl Jam— seeing them in concert numerous times, he loved great food — he liked to sweat eating spicy Thai food and he loved traveling, seeing the pyramids in 2024, a bucket list trip.

The most important part of Ron was being a father, and he was so deeply proud of both of his children, Caroline Claire and Michael Eugene.

Ron was born in La Grange, Georgia, a true southern boy.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Linda Jerry and Eugene Arlie Spears.

Services will be held on Tuesday, April 8th, at Olinger Funeral Home. A Memorial Service at 1pm with a small reception to follow.

A southern service will also be held on Thursday, April 10th, at Higgins Funeral Home, La Grange , Georgia. Visitation at 1pm, Memorial Service at 2pm.
