Rita Lynn Buys

Rita was born June 13, 1953 to Hubert and Martha Slegers in Downey, CA. She attended Dordt College from 1971-1974, where she met and later married Douglas James Buys on May 31, 1975. The family started in Ontario CA, then on to Merced, CA eventually settling in Denver, CO.

Rita loved gardening, interior decorating, and antiques. Her true passion however was spending time with her friends and family and her grandchildren in particular. Rita was sustained her entire life by her abiding faith in the Lord.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Martha Slegers, sister Helen and brother George.

She is survived by her husband Doug; three children, Jerrod (Sarah: Mary, Jack, Eric, and Leah), Douglas (Natalie: Blake and Spencer) and Melanie (Shaun: Liam and Quinn); brothers, Rich, Gerard, and John; and sisters, Joan and Barb, and their families and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:30 am at First Christian Reformed Church, 1814 S Emerson St, Denver, CO 80210. Rita will be laid to rest, privately, at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery, Centennial, CO.
