Raymond F. Behrens was born in March 1950, in Denver, CO. He passed away at his home surrounded by his family on March 3, 2011. Raymond was born the second of three sons to John Floyd Behrens and Virginia Mae (Slater) Behrens. He was raised on the family farm in Byers, CO and attended Deer Trail School, where he graduated in 1968. He then went on to Denver Mechanic School where he received his certificate in 1969. Raymond met Toni Jolly and they were married in September 1975. To this union two children were born, Jaci Maria and Judd Kyne. They divorced in 1991. In 1992, he met Darcy and the two became very good friends. It wasn’t until May 20, 2000 the two were married. Darcy brought to this marriage two sons, James (J.D.) and Kevin Hamacher. Raymond was always a very kind and giving man. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand. During his time of illness, his family learned many more valuable things from him. He had the strongest will to live, positive attitude and he never gave up faith. He touched so many lives, not only in his community but also in the medical field. Raymond was self employed most of his life. His business that he created in 1994 was Tuff Tanks, LLC. His son Judd worked a long side of his Dad until 2008 when Raymond was no longer able to work. At that time his son Kevin joined the business. The two of them will continue on his legacy. Raymond served on the Deer Trail School Board for 12 years. He was a member of the Deer Trail Elks for several years and Raymond was actively serving as President of the Deer Trail Jockey Club. He loved helping to organize the Deer Trail Rodeo, but his main love was the Demolition Derby’s that were held at the rodeo grounds.
Raymond was preceded in death by his Father and Mother. He is survived by his wife Darcy Behrens of Deer Trail, CO; Daughter Jaci Behrens of Byers, CO; Son Judd (Cassie) Behrens of Deer Trail, CO; Son J.D. (Kristina) Hamacher of Deer Trail, CO; Son Kevin Hamacher of Deer Trail, CO; Brother Victor (Julie) Behrens of Deer Trail, CO; Brother Robert (Jeannie) Behrens of Fleming, CO; Father & Mother-In-Law James (Melissa) Hoffman of Deer Trail, CO; Grandson Keaton Hamacher of Deer Trail, CO as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He will be greatly missed by many. A memorial fund has been established at Valley Bank & Trust in Strasburg, CO.
