Patricia Rogge, age 90, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. Pat was an Arizona native, born on February 10, 1926 in Clifton, Arizona, the daughter of Gladys (McDougall) and Harry Earl Rogge. Pat's childhood was filled with wonder and adventure as she grew up in Clifton, a small mining town. Whether it was that the Spanish explorer Coronado passed through Clifton or that the area was the birthplace of Geronimo, something in Clifton put a spark in Pat's step and adventure in her soul.
Pat's education included a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of Arizona. She moved to Colorado as a young adult to be near the mountains she loved, and continued her education here by earning her degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado, graduating in 1949. Along the way she continued in her quest for unknown experiences that would draw her to the great outdoors. Pat loved to be out in the woods, fishing, hiking, and camping. She even had a sailboat that she pulled up to the mountains behind her little camper and put it in the various lakes in the high country.
Pat had a long career as a Physical Therapist and was the second physical therapist to be hired at the now renowned Craig hospital. It was at Craig where she left her footprint and her amazing physical therapy career began. Pat’s hands were an extension of her heart, healing the hurt in body and soul of her patients. While her hands were used for healing in her physical therapy practice, those same hands played music that heaven heard. Her piano playing was prolific. Worship came easy. And she loved flowers. She was at home in a garden. Flowers and plants responded to her green thumb.
Pat became a Christian in the early '70's, surrendering her life to Jesus. That miraculous experience became the very core of her being. Pat exuded Jesus. She was generous beyond measure, compassionate, understanding, a true friend. She was thoughtful, truly, thought full. Her words were rich. Her prayers went deep. The spirit of Jesus ran through her very being.
Pat's ninety years were filled with love for those that God put in her path. (So faithful was our God that He put each of us in Pat’s life.) Over the last thirty plus years Pat’s main role was of a compelling heart friend to Susan, Steve and Grandmother to Justin and Jessica. What an overflowing life of love.
At her home in Littleton for the past 20 years, Pat enjoyed a circle of friends who enjoyed many good times together - dining out, card games, endless conversation, and frequent trips to the mountains. Pat knew the mountain back roads well, where she made frequent overnight road trips with her friends. Longer trips included visits to her home town of Clifton, Arizona and to her friend Caroline's home town in Lenoir, North Carolina.
Pat was a devoted Bronco's fan. It was serious business for her. Sunday afternoons during football season would find her in front of the TV, with her friend Caroline, herself an equally devoted fan of the Bronco’s, at her side. Our Super bowl victory in 2016 really was "for Pat!"
Pat’s lone sibling, H. Earl “Bud” Rogge, Jr., predeceased her. She is survived by two nephews, Larry Rogge of Tucson, and Charlie Rogge of Anchorage, and her niece Leslie Standifer of Tucson.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary. A private Inurnment will be held at Mt. Lindo Cemetery. For those attending the memorial service on April 2nd, her friend Susan requests that you wear bright colors, especially floral patterns, to recognize Pat's love of life, gardening, and the great outdoors.
