Michael loved spending time with his family, listening to music from the 1960s, traveling, running marathons, keeping up with the news and watching ACC basketball games. He was admired by his family and friends for his great sense of humor and for being a true southern gentleman. Michael received his bachelor’s degree in business administration at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. His career was in investor relations at Public Service Company of Colorado, New Century Energies and Xcel Energy.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Mitchell Pritchard, who passed away on September 22, 2019, after a valiant two-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Michael and Joyce were married for 51 years. They were high school sweethearts from the same hometown of Hopewell, Virginia. They moved to Boulder, Colorado, in the early 1970s and raised their two sons in the Congress Park neighborhood of Denver. After retiring from Xcel Energy, Michael and Joyce moved back to Hopewell to live in their dream house on the Appomattox River for several years before returning to Colorado to be closer to their sons and granddaughters.
Michael is survived by Mike Pritchard Jr. (son), Justin Pritchard (son), Cindy Pritchard (sister), Bill Pritchard (brother), Betsy Pritchard (sister-in-law), Amy Lascara (niece), Will Pritchard (nephew), Phyllis Goldmuntz (sister-in-law), Barry Goldmuntz (brother-in-law), Jessica Stokes (niece), Aaron Goldmuntz (nephew), Karen Dunn Pritchard (daughter-in law), Marcia Pritchard (daughter-in-law), Tigist Pritchard (granddaughter), and Kidist Pritchard (granddaughter).
