Mike was born September 7, 1964, to John and Marie Nowlan in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mike attended Bishop Dwenger High School where he was a member of the school’s football, basketball, and baseball teams.
Mike went on to Indiana University where he met his wife, Patty McGoff Nowlan. He was a pitcher for the IU Baseball team and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity developing lifelong friendships with his fraternity brothers.
After graduating in 1987 with a degree from The Kelly School of Business, he started his career at IBM, leading to a 36- year career in the Technology Industry. His career path included positions at MacMillan Publishing, Eviciti, Arrow Electronics and Nutanix.
While in Indianapolis, Mike and Patty were members of Hillcrest Country Club and St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mike relocated to Denver, CO in 2011 with Arrow Electronics and later joined Nutanix as the Global Director of Channel Sales Programs.
Mike enjoyed coaching his sons in sports at St. Pius X and Skiles Test Little League. He especially enjoyed teaching them the love of the game of golf. Mike also loved to fish and play tennis. He was a supporter of IU athletics and the Indianapolis Colts. After moving to Denver, he became a fan of the Broncos, Nuggets and Avs. Mike also enjoyed auto racing and annually attended the Indianapolis 500. While living in Colorado he loved spending time with his family in the mountains skiing and hiking. His happy place was golfing at The Club at Ravenna of which he was a member.
Mike and his family would like to thank Dr. Robert Rifkin MD, Dr. Tara Gregory MD and the staff of Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado Blood Cancer Institute and Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center for their excellent care.
Mike is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patty McGoff Nowlan and his three sons, Jack, Tom, and Matt Nowlan. Mike is also survived by his father, John Nowlan of Ft Wayne, IN, sisters Cathy Adams of Edmond, OK, Liz Helmer (John) of Grand Rapids, MI, Jeanne Carberry of Colorado Springs, CO, and brother John Nowlan (Nancy) Houston, Tx, and eighteen nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his mother, Marie Nowlan.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 19th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm with a rosary service at 5:00pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd, Centennial, Colorado, 80121.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, January 20th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 S. Quebec Street, Centennial CO 80112. Livestream of Mass will begin at 11:00am MST, please join with the following link:
