Michael, the son of Harold and Rosalie Harvey, was born in Garden City Kansas on March 9, 1948.
He graduated from Englewood High School. He then served in the U.S. Army in Panama, where he worked in Communications. After an honorable discharge, Mike returned to Colorado and worked as a splicer at Mountain Bell, later held several management positions, and was a tactical planner by the time he retired from Century Link. During his career, he earned an associate’s degree in Communications and also was president of the telephone union. He was highly respected by his peers.
He married his first wife, Christina Archibold. They had three children, Sandy, Greg, and Geoff. He later married Mary Patricia (Patty) Spicer.
As a young man, Mike was very athletic. He took a keen interest in the athletic ccomplishments of his children and grandchildren. Mike was known to have a good sense of humor and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, Colorado Rockies, and Denver Broncos. He collected baseball cards and developed an interest coin collecting.
Mike is survived by his wife, Patty Harvey and his three children: Sandi Lynn Harvey (Edward Douglas Raymond), Gregory Wayne Harvey (Robynn Doty), Geoffery Phaun Harvey, and step-children: Annabeth Johnson (Wayne Johnson), and Lawrence A. (Chip) Long, III.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: James Archuleta, Brieanna Harvey, Marliena Salas, Frankie Harvey, Olivia Harvey, Jasmyn Harvey, Sierra Harvey, Brayden Harvey, Tyce Harvey, Noah Harvey, Sandia Johnson, Adalee Johnson, and Samuel Johnson; his great-grandchildren: Neveah Smith, Kaylee Smith, Leyah Dowling, and Phoibe Cox, and siblings: Terri Ruecker (Don Ruecker), Sandi Mishler (Ed Mishler), Beverly Scott (Terry Scott), Janice Brown (Burt Brown). He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mike is predeceased by his parents: Harold James and Rosalie Harvey and his granddaughter: Cassandra Vielka Harvey.
A celebration of his life will be held on Oct. 22, 2021 at Noon at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121.
