Marilyn Sorensen, 66, passed away peacefully on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2023. She had a beautiful, compassionate soul and a special kindness for people and animals, especially children. She was the type of child care provider who treated all children as if they were her own. An encourager, a fighter, an inspiration; Marilyn spent her time being actively involved in her community, founded CCWU (Colorado Care Workers Union) and passionately fought to win raises, and protections for workers across CO. There was no stopping her-she would stand tall and mighty, fierce and stubborn, all 4”11 of her without any fear of consequences. She was about principles! “A teenie bit of a story of our little friend’s life, but REMEMBER it was a life lived like a giant”.
A proud Colorado native, she is survived by her daughter Amy, dear grandson James, brother Daniel, and many other beloved family members and friends. Marilyn is preceded in death by parents Marian and Daniel, brothers Bobby, Allan and Gary and little sister Janice.
