Marilyn Jean Chapman, formerly of Yankton and Brookings, SD, passed away on August 12, 2015. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard; parents Harold Nicholson and Mary (Harding) Long; brother Tom Nicholson; sister June (Nicholson) Larson-Ayers and brother-in-law Richard Larson. She is survived by 5 children: Dr. Catherine (Dr. Steven) Hoff, of Windermere, FL; Robert, of Watertown, SD; Michael (Christina), of Front Royal, VA; Stephen (Stacey), of Alpharetta, GA; and Amy (Mark) Johnson, of Pearland, TX. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marilyn Chapman was born on July 14, 1931 in Platte, SD to Harold and Mary. She graduated from Yankton High in 1949. She graduated from South Dakota State College (University) in 1954, and subsequently earned her Master’s degree in Economics from SDSU. She married Richard (“Dick”) Chapman in Brookings, SD on August 14, 1955. She dedicated her life to her family and to her church, and she had a passion for music, playing the piano daily until her 8th decade. She was gracious and caring, and touched the lives of all whom she met. She will be dearly missed by a multitude of family and friends. Visitation Tuesday, August 18 from 5-7pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S. Colorado Blvd., Littleton, CO, 80121; funeral Wednesday August 19, 10am at Our Father Lutheran Church, 6335 S. Holly St., Centennial, CO, 80121. Interment service at Ft. Logan National Cemetery will follow at 1pm.
