Margaret A. Whittaker, of Lakewood, CO, passed away May 5, 2021. She was born on December 16, 1930 in Topeka, Kansas, as one of three children born to John Willard and Lila E. Rice Waddle. The family moved to Colorado where Margaret met her husband, Joseph Ralph Whittaker. The two of them raised a family of thirteen children: Rosalea, Ralph, Judy, David, Tom, Jean, Ruby, Kenneth, Ernie, Aleta, Norma, Robert and Terry. In addition to being a mother, she was a grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother.
Margaret was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who enjoyed painting, knitting, and bowling. She was an avid fan of the Rockies and Broncos, cheering her teams on weekly! When she wasn't watching her teams play, you could often find her watching game shows (which she usually could win).
Margaret had a great sense of humor and a drive to make sure her children could be independent and responsible. After raising her children, she cleaned for the Ramada Inn and was continuously improving herself and her career. Margaret was a driven and loving woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by nine children; her brother, John Willard; and numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her children, Rosalea, Ralph, Robert and David; her sister, Elizabeth; and her beloved cat, Peaches.
Services for Margaret will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (610 Coors St., Lakewood, CO). Visitation will begin at 10am at the Church.
Burial will take place at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery (6601 S. Colorado Blvd., Centennial, CO) at 1pm.
