Marge was born and raised in South Philadelphia. During the war years, she worked at a local munitions factory testing machine guns and other wartime weaponry. She was a photographer as well as a model and her classy image helped to sell war bonds.
After marrying Robert Olsen (deceased), she lived in various places across the US while raising her family: California (2xs), Ohio, Massachusetts, and Colorado. She was a superb cook who enjoyed dinner parties. Her favorite expression was, “Get out of my kitchen!” because everyone would gather round and talk while she cooked. Yet she would always insist on supervising when in anyone else’s kitchen.
Marge worked at The Broadway department store near L.A for many years where she advanced to manage several departments. In her early retirement years she became a holiday ‘decorator to the stars’, supervising Christmas decorations at the homes of many notable Hollywood film and TV stars. She was always up for an adventure, especially if margaritas were involved.
Marge was a longtime and proud member of the Magic Castle in L.A. and she was Royal Queen of her Red Hat Society.
Marge is survived by her two beloved sons, Bob Olsen of Phoenix, AZ, and Jim (Theresa) Olsen residing in Littleton, CO. She will be greatly missed by her three grandchildren whom she adored, Patrick (Aine) Olsen, who is studying in England, Hannah Olsen, who resides in Texas, and Lizzie Olsen, who lives in Littleton.
“Babe” will always be remembered for her feisty attitude, welcoming and warm home, her lithe shape, and her perfectly coiffed hair. She wanted to be remembered as “One hell of an Old Broad,” and is now off to her next great adventure.
Private family services to be held at a later date.
